Processing? Yeah! Posted by: Luke the Student

Tuesday 16th March – 2pm

Venue Rm 210

First up a long overdue thanks to everyone for turning out to the Processing workshop and then the continued interest in holding another one. As a result I have been persuaded. This Tuesday there will be another chance to indulge in the brilliance that is monospaced code. Whilst the previous session was an introduction into Processing specifically, this session will focus around some of the programming principles that are essential in creating more complicated applications. Luckily these are universal and once you’ve got an understanding of the logic you can work across Javascript, C++, PHP, Processing & Arduino.

So there is a bit more theory in this lesson, but it is still crucial to bring your own laptop with Processing installed as this will allow us to explore working code snippets. It’s just more interesting that way.

There is no room confirmed as yet, though I will endeavour to get this posted by Monday afternoon. As before if you are interested then just put a comment on this post.

NOTE If you missed the first session but want to come along and get caught up then do not dispair! For we have successfully captured and trained an additional number of people who will be able to offer assistance should you require it. Please let me know ahead of time so I can be aware of numbers. Cheers

VERY Important!!! Posted by: Tony

The minimal questions you should be asking and be showing evidence in your work/sketch books so far.

  1. What constitutes an urban/suburban/rural environment? Who lives there and why?
  2. How have these environments changed over time and why?
  3. How do these cultures and environments impact on each other?
  4. What films, literature, documentaries, art, design and newspapers have you watched and read on this subject and what have you concluded from these?
  5. How do the different cultures/environments impact on the society in them and how does that society affect the design of its surroundings?
  6. How do you relate to your own culture and why?
  7. How do you relate to your society?
  8. How does your society relate to others?
  9. How much do you really know about the WORLD you live in?
  10. Why do you do and like the things you do?
  11. How do you relate to yours and other environments and does this affect your behaviour?
  12. Do you as an individual affect your surroundings?

Your created environments.

  1. Where, what, how and when given the research above does your environment exist?
  2. What is its purpose and for whom?
  3. how do your buildings relate to there environment
  4. How does the interior relate to the exterior
  5. How does your environment impact on it’s society
  6. How do the inhabitants effect the environment
  7. How do the inhabitants react to there environment.
    • What philosophy has your environment got?
    • How has this effected the shapes you have used?
    • What textures and feel does your environment have and why?
